D5000 Nikon SLR Digital Camera
Nikon D5000 SLR Digital Camera Information
The new Nikon D5000 SLR Digital Camera is shown above between the almost look alike Nikon D60 and D90, because that's where Nikon intended it to be.
The D5000 Nikon is for someone just getting into SLR Digital Cameras, and has the features beyond the D60 and a bit shy of the D90, but with a cost inbetween.
Basically you're getting a D90 wrapped in a less sturdy but professional body for a few hundred dollars less than the D90, which was Nikon's first Digital Single Lens Reflex camera to shoot HD video.
If you're just looking to snap a few good shots of your little girl playing baseball, the D5000 Nikon DSLR will step up to the plate. If you're looking to make extra money from shooting portraits and weddings, and need that level of refinement, you'll appreciate the D90's rigidity, top-mounted LCD, higher resolution LCD monitor and superior kit lens (if you go the package/kit route).
For the DSLR newcomer, the D5000 Nikon is a perfect camera for those willing to spend approximately $850 (package) or $730 (body only), but only if you're not planning on utilizing the video mode extensively, which falls short of the D90's quality.
The D5000 Nikon is a runaway winner for the price; more likely, the tough part won't be deciding on whether you should buy the Nikon D5000 SLR Digital Camera , but if you should spend a bit more on the D90.
